Our Worship
In our weekly gathering, we join as a community to praise God in song, read passages from the Old and New Testament, and listen to a clergy member unpack a Scripture reading in a sermon that relates God’s word to our lives. We then take communion, where we share bread and wine in a weekly celebration of Jesus’s death and resurrection. The service concludes as the church is sent out into our communities, homes, and workplaces to share the love of God with our neighbors.
The Anglican tradition may be new or unfamiliar based on your experience of church services. We follow a liturgy, or a structured routine of written prayers, songs, and scripture readings. Our liturgy is written in modern, accessible language while remaining rooted in profound, ancient patterns of worship that date back to the first centuries of the church.
Though Anglican liturgy provides a regular pattern of worship, not every Sunday is the same. Just like in life, the church year moves through several different seasons, which guide us in remembering and celebrating events in the life of Jesus. In recognizing these seasons, we can better understand our lives as part of the bigger story of the faith spanning several millennia. We remember all God has done throughout history and continues to do in our world today.
“You have made us for yourself, and our hearts are restless, until they can find rest in you.”
